The Revealing of a Name

A special moment is taking place. A new name is being
revealed, the name of the third person of the Trinity. Jesus previously said,
"I am…the truth" (Jn. 14:6) and now He introduces the Comforter as
"The Spirit of Truth!" The aim of the Holy Spirit would be to guide
us to the Truth. Jesus knew that his disciples were full of doubts,
frustrations and despair. Therefore, His words brought comfort in a time of
confusion. These verses show that in the perfect unity of the Trinity, there
cannot be dissension and antagonism. The Holy Spirit came to glorify Jesus as
Lord and prepare the people so that they live to praise His glorious name. His
presence came to perfect the process of eternal redemption.
What satisfaction it brings to my soul to hear the words of
the Master when he speaks about the Holy Spirit. With such confidence He
assures us that the Holy Spirit provides comfort, truth and guidance. It is
wonderful to be able to count on Him in our lives. His anointing power, His
presence and his leadership helps us to achieve the most desired victories and
the most cherished goals. The Bible says He is the Holy Spirit of truth and in other
parts reveals many more names given to Him. We can call Him: The Spirit of
Truth, Spirit of Grace, Counselor, etc. In my experience, after having walked
with Him for more than 30 years and seen Him directing my steps through life, I
prefer to call the Holy Spirit my friend!
