He Has Prepared a Place For You

The disciples are told that they can trust Jesus’ words
because he promised to prepare a place for them in his absence. Why does Jesus
promise to prepare this place? Why does the place, heaven, need preparation?
Does it need improvement? Is it flawed in any way? No! God’s house is in no way
flawed or lacking of perfection and joy. Though it lacks not, Jesus states that
some sort of preparation is needed, specifically the need to prepare the way
for his disciples to have a room in God’s house. Sin had to be answered for.
The Lamb of God had to be slain. The wrath of God and condemnation were still
left unsatisfied. Jesus would soon become the curse and absorb the wrath of God
for the sake of humanity. And death had to be defeated. Our way to the Father’s
house had to be prepared. Jesus promised to prepare a place for his disciples
by removing these eternal barriers. Him removing these barriers was him
preparing a way for his disciples and the Church to spend eternity with him.
Jesus has prepared a way for us to spend eternity in the
Father’s house. Thus, Jesus is the way to peace and eternity him.
Spend some time thanking Jesus for preparing a way for us to
spend eternity with him. Thank him for being the Way. Ask him to give you the
faith to believe in Him, his word and what he promised to accomplish.
